作者簡介

克里斯多夫．鮑里尼（Christopher Paolini）

　　生於1983年11月17日，從小就愛看奇幻小說，15歲高中畢業後選擇在家自學，並動筆寫下他的第一本小說《龍騎士首部曲：飛龍聖戰》。

　　克里斯多夫的父母決定自行出版《龍騎士首部曲》，與他花了近半年時間編輯、校對、設計封面、設計版式、字體調整，及媒體宣傳資料。最後連封面、奧俄蓋西亞地圖等設計都由鮑里尼親手繪製設計。

　　小說完成之後，在2002年由父母的公司出版首部曲。當代著名小說家卡爾．希亞森（Carl Hiaasen）的繼子在無意間發現這本小說，推薦給希亞森，希亞森讀了之後驚為天人，大力推薦給他的出版社克諾普夫（Knopf），在2003年8月克諾普夫出版社重新出版。這次的出版讓19歲的鮑里尼成為《紐約時報》暢銷書作家。原本他將前往奧勒岡州波特蘭市（Portland, OR）就讀瑞德學院（Reed College），但因為小說熱賣，遂暫停了繼續就學的計畫。

　　按照原本的寫作計畫，《龍騎士三部曲：降魔火劍》會是系列的終結，但是起筆撰寫這本書的同時，鮑里尼也發現需要第四部曲才得以將故事更完整呈現，因此，故事在鮑里尼筆下尚未結尾，繼續寫著。

鮑里尼現在住在美國蒙大拿州，當地壯闊的自然美景正是奧俄蓋西亞的化身，也是艾瑞岡命運的發源地。
